Cricket Formats and Tournaments
Cricket is played in three main formats — T20, ODI and Test. Each format has its own pace and tactics, which also makes the betting markets different from one another.
T20 is the fastest format — each team plays just 20 overs. For Bangladesh, the biggest attraction is the BPL, where the country's top players take the field together. Bangladesh Tigers matches in the international T20 World Cup are especially popular.
ODI, or One Day International, is a 50-over contest where there are more opportunities to score, making over/under and total runs markets more effective. Test cricket is a long five-day battle; a draw is a possible result here, so the betting markets are structured differently.
IPL features the best players in the world and its matches always get strong coverage on tk 10. For ICC tournaments such as the T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy, interest in betting on Bangladesh's matches is naturally high.
Betting on Football and Other Sports
Besides cricket, tk 10 also offers betting on football. In football there are three possible match outcomes — home win, draw or away win — which is fundamentally different from T20 or ODI cricket, where there is usually only a win or a loss.
Because goals are rare in football, each goal has a big impact on the odds. In cricket, wickets falling, big overs or rain interruptions regularly shift the odds.

Cricket vs Football Betting — Key Differences
- Cricket usually has two outcomes (T20/ODI); football has three (win-draw-loss)
- Cricket has more markets — overs, wickets, batsman; football has corners, cards, goalscorer
- In Test cricket a draw is possible, so odds are split across three outcomes
- In live betting, cricket odds change more frequently
Popular Betting Markets
tk 10 offers a range of cricket markets. The most commonly used ones are briefly explained below.
Match Winner
Most PopularThe match winner market is simply about which of the two teams will win. In T20 or ODI there are only two possible outcomes. For example: if you back Team B in a Team A vs Team B match and Team B wins, your return is calculated at the set odds.
Toss Winner
Simple MarketThis market is about who wins the toss at the start of the match — straightforward enough. You can bet on either Team A or Team B. The result is entirely independent since it has nothing to do with either team's strength.
Top Batsman
Skill MarketThis market is about which batsman will score the most runs in a specific innings or across the whole match. It is a bet on individual performance — a batsman can play a great innings even when the team is struggling.
Total Runs Over/Under
Stats BetYou can also bet on the total runs scored in a match, separate from wickets or the result. If the line is set at "over 165 runs", you are deciding whether the match total will exceed 165.
Multi Bet
Multiple SelectionsYou predict multiple matches or markets at the same time and the odds are multiplied together. Getting all selections right brings a bigger return — but if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. See details on multi bets at tk 10 Bet.
Handicap Betting
Margin MarketThe stronger team is given an artificial disadvantage to level the market. For example — if Team A is given a -15 run handicap, they must win by at least 16 runs for the bet to be successful.
A Simple Guide to Understanding Odds
Odds are written in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. The same price can be expressed in all three formats.
| Format | Odds for Team A win | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | ৳2.25 returned for every ৳1 staked |
| Fractional | 5/4 | ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked |
| American | +125 | ৳125 profit for every ৳100 staked |
Example 1 — Team A wins (৳500 bet)
Decimal odds 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. If you bet ৳500 and Team A wins, your total return is ৳1,125 — that includes ৳625 profit plus your original ৳500 stake back. If Team A loses, the full ৳500 is gone.
Example 2 — Favourite Team B (৳500 bet)
If Team B is the favourite to win, the odds might be decimal 1.25 = fractional 1/4 = American -400. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. With a ৳500 bet, if Team B wins your total return is ৳625 — a profit of only ৳125.
The lower the odds, the bigger the favourite — but the smaller the return. Bet for fun and stay within your limits. Reading the responsible gaming guidelines can help you build good habits.
Live In-Play Betting
You can still place bets after a match has started — that is live or in-play betting. In cricket this is especially interesting because every wicket, every big over or the outcome of a powerplay has an immediate effect on the odds.
Say Team A is at 55 runs for 3 wickets after 8 overs in a T20 match. At that point Team A's odds to win will naturally be higher than before because their position is difficult. If you think Team A's middle order is strong, you can place a bet at that exact moment.
You can also enter the over/under market live. After 15 overs you can make a decision based on the odds that have moved up or down for the total runs. Keep in mind though — in-play betting is a game of quick decisions, and betting is always meant to be for entertainment.
For easy in-play access on mobile, you can use the tk 10 App — available for both Android and iOS.
Why do in-play odds change?
- A wicket falls — the batting side's odds go up, the bowling side's come down
- A big over — the batting side's chances of winning increase
- Rain delay — odds reset with the possibility of a revised target under the DLS method
- Key batsman dismissed — pressure on the run rate increases
- End of powerplay — the entire market resets based on the new score
Some Useful Tips for Cricket Betting
Cricket betting is an entertaining experience. Keeping a few general points in mind can make it even better:
- Focus on one format first. The betting markets for T20 and Test are very different — rather than doing both at once, get a good understanding of one first.
- Keep an eye on pitch and weather conditions. A spin-friendly pitch tends to produce lower scores — this affects over/under markets.
- Avoid adding too many selections to a multi bet. More selections means a lower chance of all of them being correct.
- Set a budget. Decide how much you will bet on each match beforehand and do not go beyond that limit on impulse.
- Avoid rushing in live betting. Odds change fast — take in the situation before making a decision.
- Betting is entertainment, not a source of income. Winning and losing are both normal — no strategy guarantees a win.
Multi Bet Example
If three selections have decimal odds of 1.50, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.56 (approximate). A ৳100 bet returns ৳456 if all selections are correct. But if even one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
